How to recover corrupt Databases on Access Server without losing any data?


Microsoft Access Database is the best and the popular database management system which uses Microsoft Jet as its default storage engine. It consists of object-oriented programming capabilities and different software development tools in order to develop client-server applications. Mainly types of databases files are used by the Microsoft Access Database, they are - .MDB and .ACCDB. However, these two databases also get corrupted at some point. 

There are numerous reasons behind the corruption of access database corruption like infection, application errors, corruption of storage media, multi-user access, inefficient database design, etc. You will be unable to access all critical database components and face a vital data loss when a database file gets corrupted. As for example, when you try to open an infected MS Access database file then you may encounter the following error messages on your system screen:

“The database needs to be repaired or isn’t a database file.

Any user may have unexpectedly close Microsoft Office Access when a Microsoft Office Access database was open.

Do you want Microsoft Office Access to attempt to repair the database?”

When you click a ‘Yes’, the Access performs a repair operation on the database. It displays the following error when it gets failed to repair the Access database.

“Unrecognized database format ‘filename.mdb’”.

There are some other reasons also which can corrupt Access database such as application malfunction, virus attack, improper system shutdown, etc. If it happens then you can use the updated back up file for restoring all the lost data. Follow the steps if in case the backup copy is missing or get corrupted to repair Access database files.

Step 1: Click “Tools” button and opt for ‘Compact and repair Database’.
Step 2: Select ‘Database to Compact Form’ option and then select ‘Compact’.
Step 3: Repair process starts once you select Compact.
Step 4: Click “Save” when the repair process gets finished.
